Pirates sign Gregory Polanco to a 5 year extension with two club options keeping him under team control through year 2023. I think Polanco has the tools to become a top right fielder in all of baseball. And maybe he could be the piece to lift the Pirates from the Wild-Card game.

No point here.

If I had a nickel for every player who "has the tools to become a top _____" and never panned out, I'd be filthy rich.

Hmm. That's a lot of nickels.

I'd bet all of those nickels that Polanco will not become a top right fielder.

He'll be an adequate outfielder, but he's been underwhelming thus far, and until he shows me more, I'll hold him for what he is: an average starting outfielder.

Yes because every young player that comes into the league is mike trout in their first few years.

Reductio ad absurdum.

No one was saying he needs to be as good as Trout. Just not that he probably won't ever be the best RF. He might have the skills, but so does every young major leaguer.

He's not even better than George Springer, who also isn't a "top RF".
