the Rays trade Jake Bauers and Alex Colome to the Phillies for Odubel Herrera and Adam Morgan.

Horrible for Rays. Bauers is a top prospect that's only a year away and projects as a better player than Herrera, who regressed heavily in the second half. Colome was one of the best closers in baseball last year and is still under control for 4 more years. Rays don't need a mediocre starter, they have too many starters as is and will probably trade one this offseason.

I don't think it's THAT bad. Odubel Herrera would be a very good outfield get for Tampa Bay.

I don't think the Phillies are in a position to be taking on a closer. A rebuilding team doesn't need to give away major assets for a position that is usually for winning teams.

Herrera has gone from rule 5 to outstanding center fielder. Hernandez and Herrera have carried the Phillies this season. He has hovered around .290 consistently. His hitting would be better than any current rays outfielder.

I like the idea just not the trade itself. I think TB could try and deal a young pitching prospect and maybe another piece or two to the Phillies for Herrera. And I doubt the Rays are looking to trade their newly found all-star closer with 4 more years of control left any time soon.

I agree with Jerk on this one. The Rays are fully stocked with good young pitching but until they get the necessary offensive pieces, they will continue to struggle getting out of the basement of the AL East.
