The Reds need to trade Cueto and get something for him before he walks in free agency and they are left empty handed.

The Yankees need to bolster their fragile rotation, injury plagued bullpen with Andrew Miller, Jacob Lindgren, and Sergio Santos all injured, and upgrade the 2nd base position.

With that being said.

Yankees get Johnny Cueto, Aroldis Chapman, and Brandon Phillips

Reds get Bryan Mitchell (Yankees #2 SP prospect), Jacob Lindgren (Yankees #1 RP Prospect) Mason Williams, Slade Heathcott, Ramon Flores, Gary Sanchez (Yankees #1 C prospect), and Jorge Mateo(Yankees #1 Shortstop prospect)

The Yankees don't have to give up their top 2 prospects in Aaron Judge and Luis Severino because they are taking on Chapman and Phillips' contracts that the Reds want to get rid of and Cueto is a free agent at the end of the year.

Yankees aren't going to get Cueto, the price is high for them. They have sworn off trading top prospects. They are intent on getting younger. Plus three of the guys going to Cin in your trade are injured. Chapman is also a free agent at the end of the year, not just Cueto. And why would they want Phillips, yes he is an upgrade over the abysmal Drew, but like I said earlier they want to get younger and have Rob Refsnyder to fill that hole.

Whatever team lands Cueto is going to have to give up a top prospect. to get Phillips AND Chapman as well, say goodbye to at least one of Severino or Judge. maybe both.

Thats if they are going to trade for Cueto, they aren't going to. Leake is more likely for them.

I don't understand y everyone is packaging players from the Reds in deals. There going to go in a rebuild mode so they will trade all major players i.e Cueto, Chapman, Leake, Phillips, Bruce by themselves to get the most out of any return. Yankees don't want to give up the top prospects in there system so Cueto and Chapman are both out. Leake very well could become a Yankee

Japowers85, exactly. The Reds would be silly to move any of these guys together.

And I actually think Leake could command more than just about any team is really comfortable with.
