Just why? That's all I want to know.

Washington has already lost Zimmerman and Fister this offseason, they won't be trading another starter. Also, there are CF’s available that they could sign without trading anyone.

the closer situation is not entirely cleared up. storen was mad that he got bumped cause papelbon only wanted to close. you don't trade for chapman unless he's the closer or even a starter (which was discussed by the reds at some point this year)

the outfield situation is the same for the yankees, they get rid of gardner to get puig. they would add 2 guys who has had domestic violence issues (puig and chapman) not to mention they have a-roid

the only thing i see is the dodgers could get strasburg to the nationals for puig and a minor league pitcher (maybe de leon) which the nationals are wanting an outfielder

nationals gets: sp jose de leon (#3) + of yasiel puig
dodgers gets: sp stephen strasburg + if minor leaguer to be named later

that seems better.

I don't see this happening, 1. I see the Nationals keeping Storen over Paplbon given he attacked Harper. 2. I don't see them trading Stras given he is still young and Scherzer Stras Gio Roark and Ross/ Jordan or maybe Giolito as well, so I don't see them trading a starter I see them signing a middle of the rotation kind of guy, and then go out and get a guy like Venable or Jackson, or maybe Young Jr. To play/ platoon in CF and all those guys can hit lead off as well, if not they can use newly-signed Daniel Murphy at the lead off spot as well. So I don't see them making any more major moves.

Moves still left:
1. Trade Paplbon to someone like the Indians to reunite him with Francona and get someone like Almonte for some Outfield depth.

2. Sign a guy like Scott Kazmir or Chen to be the number #4. Starter or maybe the #3. Depending on how Gio does.
3. Sign either Venable, Jackson, or Young Jr. To play/ platoon in center and as possible lead off guy.

Lineup:
1. venable/ Jackson/ Young Jr. CF
2. Werth LF
3. Harper RF
4. Zimmerman/ Moore/ Robinson 1st
5. Murphy 2nd
6. Ramos C
7. Rendon 3rd
8. Turner/ Espinosa SS
9. Pitcher

Bench:
1. Tayler OF
2. Robinson/ Moore 1st/ OF
3. Turner/ Espinosa INF
4. Lobiton C
5. Den Dekker/ Almonte OF

Rotation:
1. Scherzer
2. Stras
3. Gio
4. Kazmire/ Chen
5. Ross/ Roark/ Jordan/ Giolito

Bullpen:
1. Roark/ Jordan (if they don't win a rotation spot)
2. Pitet
3. Barrett
4. Gott
5. Perez
6. Kelly
7. Storen

This looks like a pretty good team that has a lot of potential even if they do lose Zimmerman because of the PED thing they still have Robinson and Moore as options to fill in for him. I think they will become contenders again this season and them and the Mets fight to the very end of the season to see who wins the division.

while your proposal has some merit, it also has obvious flaws for each team involved.

How things change in a year
Nats were suppose to be worlds best now can they compete with Mets.
