Pirates Offseason:
Pirates saved 10 million this season between Martes suspension, Kang's visa, J. Hughes release and Watson trade

Needs for Pirates: 1) Power hitting 3B 2) Veteran LHSP 3) lefty bullpen help 4) 4th Outfielder until A. Meadows is ready

Already got UTY Sean Rodriguez so check and started to help bullpen with Kontos but they need another lefty....

Internal option move Jose Osuna to 3B. External option Sign Mike Moustakas 4 yrs 44-52 million *If the pirates trade McCutchen. Or else this would never happen.

Sign Jhoulys Chacin 3 years 15-18 million

Bigbird21

1.) 07 Aug 2017 22:37:25
Mustakas is going to get a lot more money.

2.) 08 Aug 2017 00:07:05
Big Delusional Bird, Moustakas will certainly get more than what you suggested probably double, and more like 5-6 years.

3.) 08 Aug 2017 02:15:09
Veteran LH SP is not Chacin. He's right-handed. He would probably be a good signing though.

4.) 08 Aug 2017 02:16:24
He WILL NOT make 22 million a year batman that's Mike Trout money. And Moustakas is not Trout.

Thats 11-13 million a year Moustakas, who is getting 8.5 now. Ill even bump it up to 13-15 million a year for 4 years. (Which is McCutchen money) But that was a realistic pirates offer who never give out big contracts especially to players whos about to be 29. They prefer to over pay for below-average players like in recent memory. (Daniel Hudson, John Jaso, Antonio Bastardo)

Mind you I'd rather them spend big money on impactful players instead of overpaying for basically nothing.

5.) 08 Aug 2017 13:39:40
Have you not been paying attention to what players have been getting thru free agency?

Moustakas will certainly get way more than the tiny contract you've predicted. Probably closer to 5/ 100 than anything.

6.) 08 Aug 2017 14:06:58
Wow, you really are delusional. Playeres are making 30 million a year now, do you not pay any attention to the game at all? Moustakas will most defintely get 20 million a year. The fact you put Trout in this conversation is hilarious. He should be making more than 22 million and actually next year Trout will be making 32 million.

7.) 08 Aug 2017 19:36:26
BigBird, this is the MLB, not the NFL.

Homer Bailey received $105M over 6 years. do I have to elaborate?

8.) 08 Aug 2017 20:20:37
I really didn't fully read your last comment Bigbird, you cannot compare salaries like that. What someone signed years ago was the norm salary then. Salaries in baseball are going up, big time. The Qualifying offer after the season will 18 million, i think i read. If you are trying to say Moustakas won't get 18 million, you are more than delusional.

To PIT: Jamie Callahan and cash

To BOS: David Freese

Bigbird21

1.) 01 Aug 2017 00:35:09
yeah by the time you posted this, Callahan was already traded to the Mets in the Reed trade.

2.) 01 Aug 2017 05:19:54
If it weren't posted late, it's not a bad trade.

But with the acquisition of Nunez, why would Boston need another 3B?

3.) 01 Aug 2017 17:05:23
Completely forgot about Nunez.

31 Jul 2017 20:39:39
To PIT: Willie Calhoun 2B/OF and cash considerations or PTBNL

To LAD: Tony Watson LHRP Juan Nicasio RHRP

Bigbird21

19 Jul 2017 17:58:46
To PIT: 3B Matt Davidson
To CHW: SP Clay Holmes, OF Barrett Barnes (pit #18,23)

Bigbird21

1.) 20 Jul 2017 00:41:00
you do realize not everyone the White Sox have will bring a top 30 prospect back in return right.

2.) 20 Jul 2017 10:53:51
Plus Davidson is the guy that is replacing Frazier. They aren't going around trading everyone, they are just trading the old guys. Davidson isn't going anywhere.

3.) 20 Jul 2017 13:41:44
I thought Moncada was the guy replacing Frazier.

4.) 20 Jul 2017 17:53:18
White sox have another 3B in the minor that is hitting well. So they'll bring him up. And your saying 25+ homeruns a season and control for multiple year isn't valuable. Really Batman?

18 Jul 2017 18:52:07
Pirates deadline moves:

To PIT: OF Starling Heredia, RHP A.J Alexy (lad #11, #28 )
To LAD: LHRP Tony Watson

To PIT: OF Lorenzo Cedrola, LHP Jalen Beeks (bos #14, #27)
To BOS: 3B David Freese

Boston gets a veteran 3B for 2 yrs. Dodgers a veteran LHRP for the postseason. All while the Pirates continue to buy and sell by saving about 10 mil. Plus the 3 mil saved from Jung-ho Kang visa problem. 13 mil total. PIRATES GO GET SOMEONE THIS OFF-SEASON (aka mike moustakas)

I as a pirates fan would love for them to acquire Jose Quintana. For the right price. I don't think they should sell the future. So why not:
Sign Brett Anderson 2 years

Agree?

Bigbird21

1.) 11 Jan 2017 07:14:53
It would be stupid for any team to lock themselves in a deal with Anderson at this point.

He'll continue to sign 1-year deals until he proves he can stay healthy.

2.) 11 Jan 2017 13:53:23
Brett Anderson would probably be injured for most of this contract.

3.) 11 Jan 2017 14:34:17
Bigbird, Have yet to see a lot of Pirates fans on here discussing the possibility of Q. What would be your final offer as far as "right price"? Just curious as to how far or close fan bases are.

I know there a HUGE need for starting pitching. What about free agency I mean there not playing for a team I would think a lower paycheck is better then no paycheck.

What's the deal with Mark Buehrle former blue Jays starting pitcher?

Bigbird21

1.) 23 Jul 2016 02:34:00
What exactly are you trying to say here?

2.) 23 Jul 2016 03:36:49
Doesnt plan on playing but not officially retired. Probably too late for him to come back but if he does it would probably only be to the Cards to be close to home.

Finally! The pirates got ride of Charlie Morton. They filled his spot before he left now it's the pirates job to get a #3 for the rotation

SP free agents:
Wei-yin Chen (L) 2-3 yrs 3.5-4 mill/year
Ian Kennedy (R) 1-2 yrs 6-7.5 mill/year
Mike Leake. (R) 1-2 yrs 8-9 mill/year

I would love to see any of these 3 go to pittsburgh but let's be honest its not in their nature to grab big name guys in FA. But I fell these 3 would best suit the pirates filling the #3 role of AJ Burnett. Chen would be the best overall option but he would be going into a rotation with 3 LHP already. Ian Kennedy isn't as good as his contract says he was maybe he would take a pay cut to pitch for Ray Searage. Mike Leake is a #2 in most rotations and expensive so this will be a far stretch for the Pirates but buy doing this they are going full attack mode.

Along with Resigning Antonio Bastardo 1-2 yrs 1.5-2 mill/year

Please leave your comments on what you guys think. Thank you.

1.) 17 Dec 2015 14:46:34
None of those pitchers sign that cheap.

2.) 17 Dec 2015 14:57:49
Big Bird, all those pitchers will sign longer and more lucrative deals.

3.) 17 Dec 2015 15:03:35
Ian Kennedy taking a 1.5 million a year pay cut to play for a playoff team and a great pitching coach that just turned around JA Happ's career in 3 months. Kennedy could then make that money back on his next team.

4.) 17 Dec 2015 15:07:40
Chen is 30 and Kennedy is 31 in less than a week. they are just offers I don't see the pirates creating any long term contracts when they have 2 pitchers coming up from the minors in the next year or 2.

5.) 17 Dec 2015 19:21:22
People are estimating Chen getting anywhere from 15-20M a year. You have at 3.5 to 4M. Leake and Kennedy will likely get around the same.

Quit trying to defend a terrible post.

19 Aug 2015 05:57:40
Can everyone stop saying MY yankees or MY angels. You sound ridiculous and your trade posts are even worse.

Bigbird21

1.) 24 Aug 2015 13:51:13
Yes I would love it if people stopped this. Its like they think they are part of or on the team.

03 Aug 2015 06:49:04
Pirates need a SP since Burnett may be out for his career. J.A. Happ sucks not a good pick up.
Somehow get a SP for example Tyson Ross or a solid 2, 3 pitcher.

Bigbird21

1.) 04 Aug 2015 00:11:46
He's only going to miss a month.

Nicasio isn't mediocre. Under a .230 BAA induces a lot of ground balls. And has given up zero homeruns.

AJ620. The yankees have 2 top outfield prospects to replace Hicks. They are going to want to sell high on him. Yankees really need a left handed power 1B and bullpen help for playoffs.
