While I do not believe the Mets would want to trade deGrom, I think they would listen. This package might get things started. It would take more, but the Mets are in bad shape, it seems, and need some young talent coming their way. Wright, Reyes, Bruce, Duda, Granderson, and Addison Reed will likely not be there next year.

I would be okay with guys such as Porcello, Owens, Buchholz and Rodriguez in the 3-5 slots in the rotation, but asking more is probably foolish.

Trading Miller in the offseason wouldn't becsmart. Not when teams can go after Chapman, Jansen, Melancon, etc. You take 2-3 teams out of the running because they won't need him after signing someone.
Trading him now maximizes his value, as he'd be the best available option.

Well that is true, but perhaps they wouldn't be out if they wanted the super pen thing. But in all likelihood it would take a huge return for the Yankees to pull the trigger.

As a general rule, the price is always higher at trade deadline than it is in the offseason. Teams can see exactly where they sit and know their general needs. Much harder to do that in the offseason when you don't know about injuries, prospect development, etc.
If the Yankees want to maximize Miller's value, they'll for sure find someone to overpay
I would make him available and pull the trigger.
