Jays marlins trade.
Jays get Yelich
Marlins get pillar, Carrera, Reid-foley, Danner
Jays upgrade their outfield for the next several years. Marlins get place holder outfielders, and a couple quality prospects for the future.
Thoughts?

I would think the Marlins would ask for two top 100 prospects + a very good young MLB player for those two.
Of course it won't happen but it is fair and good for both clubs.

Brewers trade a couple top 100 and couple throw ins for Yelich. Decent return because Brinson was included.
With them adding Yelich and Cain, brewers looking much better, still need more pitching though.

This Brewers team, as is right now, wins the division by 5 games. Adding an ace, they run away with it. That team is solid.

Brinson was a consensus top 100 prospect and both Harrison and Diaz have made different top 100 lists this offseason. So it's arguably 3 top 100 prospects and the 21th ranked prospect in a strong system.

Can somenody please explain to me what exactly the marlins are doing.
I understand the dumping of the large contracts.
But Yelich, Ozuna, Realmuto etc?
It makes no sense, they are young, cheap controllable contracts.
If this happened up here with the jays, people would be rioting in the streets.

the marlins farm system was baron, they had very little depth and Jeter realized it. Now they have a better farm system. Look what other teams have done such as the Cubs, White Sox, Yankees, Padres, Braves, Pirates, and others.

Its going to be really bad this year.
All teams have to rebuild at some point, but this ones a head scratcher.

its almost always like that in terms of attendance. whether they are winning or losing, people don't go. Unless teams like the Yankees, Mets, Cardinals, Cubs, Red Sox, and a few other come to town. They really just needed to sign a couple good starting pitchers and they could have won.

IMO the jays need to add in several spots, rotation, outfield, backup catcher. They can go one stop shopping in LA if they’re willing to pay the high price.
To jays: grandal, Pederson
To LA: Osuna, case.
Back up catcher and outfielder for bullpen help and bullpen prospect. I know this needs work, give me some ideas? Thanks.

Pederson is one of those guys that was a great prospect, so we give him more time and value him higher.
The reality is, he's a guy with literally no room for regression.
Let's look at the BABIP:
A+: .350
AA: .327
AAA: .385 (! )
MLB Debut: .235
Y1: .262
Y2: .296
Y3: .241
Just when it seemed like Pederson was figuring out major-league hitters, he regressed, and regressed hard. Fangraphs has some interesting articles on Pederson, specifically, and why he struggles with getting valuable hits, but all in all, I'm not seeing much to believe Pederson is ever going to match his hype. One more season and we can file him in the "bust" cabinet.
Moral of the story: the Blue Jays can do better than a rental catcher and a bust for Osuna.

Cain is a good player but he's a free agent after this year. Tellez will be the Jays future first baseman in almost everybody's eyes.
It looks like the Jays run is over so expect some trades for younger pieces this year not free agents.

I'm not sure it will get better. That team is incredibly poorly put together and has absolutely no depth. They built everything on players playing at the highest percentile last season.
If I'm Toronto, I start selling pieces by early June.

Since no one else pointed it out, Happ is not on an expiring contract. He's signed through 2018.
