Red Sox - White Sox Trade

(Assuming CWS slip further in the division and decide to make a pitcher not-named Sale available for prospects)

Red Sox Receive: Jose Quintana (LHP)

White Sox Receive: Andrew Benintendi (OF), Rafael Devers (3B), Blake Swihart (C), Trey Ball (LHP), William Jerez (LHP)

Quintana slots in as our #3 behind Price and Wright this season and we are set to go.

In the future Quintana probably becomes #2 as Wright regresses but still, Quintana is a good pitcher and wouldn't cost our entire farm like Sale would.

Actually not bad.

2.) 20 Jun 2016 18:12:07
Or instead of Trey Ball and William Jerez, swap them both out for Eduardo Rodriguez in the deal (White Sox can get two major leaguers in Swihart and ERod and still have two top-5 prospects added into their system)

3.) 20 Jun 2016 18:31:55
The Red Sox won't get a pitcher like Quintana without giving up one of Betts or Bogaerts plus a whole package of high-ceiling prospects.

Quintana is a top 20 pitcher in baseball and has one of the most team-friendly deals around.

The White Sox will fleece anyone who trades for him.

theJerk

That might be a stretch. Maybe Betts but Boegarts is a top SS in the game.

5.) 20 Jun 2016 20:08:37
Jerk- just out of curiosity, what team to you cheer for?

6.) 20 Jun 2016 21:22:37
I'm a Giants fan.

7.) 21 Jun 2016 02:06:30
The Sox will not give up Betts or Bogaerts. They are the faces of the franchise with Ortiz set to retire and Peds getting up there in years.

8.) 21 Jun 2016 02:19:44
I know they won't give up Betts or Bogaerts. But they also won't get a top 20 pitcher in the game without Betts or Bogaerts.

9.) 21 Jun 2016 15:38:07
theJerk Sox are trying to improve their team not blow it up they are not going to trade their 2 best players to get pitching they can get a good starter without giving up Betts or Bogaerts.

Good grief sinko, learn some reading comprehension.

I said, the Red Sox won't trade Betts or Bogaerts, but I promise you, they will have a really, really challenging time trading for a dront-end starter without giving one of those guys up.

Either that, or you see every good prospect they have going to the other team. Any way you shape it, it will hurt the Red Sox in the end. No one is going to give them a top pitcher.

(Assuming Houston slips further and falls out of the AL West race soon)

Red Sox - Astros Trade Idea

Red Sox Receive: Doug Fister (RHP)

Astros Receive: Trey Ball (LHP), William Jerez (LHP)

Red Sox rotation:
(1) David Price
(2) Steven Wright
(3) Rick Porcello
(4) Eduardo Rodriguez
(5) Doug Fister
(6) Elias/ Kelly/ Buchholz (in case of injury to anyone in the rotation)

Fister is a rental so it shouldn't cost as much, definitely not any of the "Big 5" (Benintendi, Moncada, Espinosa, Devers, Groome), and considering guys like Teheran will be expensive, Fister might be the more realistic, and cheaper option.

Astros meanwhile get a pair of promising lefty prospects and Jerez has the potential to be a potential 6th-7th inning man from the bullpen. Trey Ball has had a good season so far and the Astros could take a chance on him.

I would like Rich Hill but considering we have to deal with Billy Beane, it's more than likely we would have to give up more just for Hill. I could see Beane "holding us hostage" for the services of Hill.

What do you guys think? Fair deal? Astros need another prospect back? Red Sox are overpaying?

It's not terrible, but I would rather the Sox give up more and get someone better. Andrew Cashner comes to mind.

2.) 16 Jun 2016 17:12:51
Is Cashner really that better?

Maybe if you give up some more but get a good reliever from San Diego like Buchter or Rodney.

3.) 16 Jun 2016 19:59:10
I would trust Cashner far more than Fister. Just my opinion.

4.) 16 Jun 2016 21:36:30
I wouldn't. Cashner is always injured. I like the deal for Fister but would like to maybe not give up two lefties since we could use a nice left reliever coming out of the bullpen.

5.) 17 Jun 2016 03:04:27
Thing is, there just aren't many SPs to be dealt this year, so it seems. I think Boston might have to give up someone like Benintendi or Travis to get an upgrade. That said, they would want more than Fister or Cashner if they have to give up a good prospect.

Red Sox - Padres Trade

Red Sox Receive: Drew Pomeranz (SP), Ryan Buchter (RP)

Padres Receive: Rafael Devers (3B), Trey Ball (LHP), Michael Kopech (RHP), Luis Alexander Basabe (OF)

Phantom255x

1.) 15 Jun 2016 00:55:34
giving up that much for Pomeranz and Buchter is kind of foolish. Pomeranz has really only been good for this one season as a starter. All the other years not so much. Who know's he could be a one year wonder or only good half the season. And Buchter is a rookie.

2.) 15 Jun 2016 02:37:20
What does being a rookie have to do with anything, batman?

3.) 15 Jun 2016 02:51:11
The Sox are incredibly high on Devers, and since Pomeranz is still not tested over time, this would not be smart for Boston.

4.) 15 Jun 2016 15:12:30
point is its to much for a pitcher who is having the best season of his career in a very small sample size of the season, and a rookie.

5.) 15 Jun 2016 15:39:45
What if you replace Devers with Michael Chavis? Then is it a fair deal for both sides?
