Manny Machado to Cubs

Baltimore gets Cubs 13th Prospect Alex Mills
Cubs 15th Prospect Cory Abbott.

1.) 02 Jan 2018 18:34:48
The Orioles would not accept this offer. Machado will bring a much bigger return than that, prospects that ranking higher than the teams 13th and 15th best prospects.

2.) 02 Jan 2018 20:24:24
Not even close to what the O's would want.

3.) 02 Jan 2018 22:44:58
Those are like pieces D and E in a trade for Machado.

4.) 03 Jan 2018 08:40:55
Machado has 1 year of rental left. He's not worth more the a few mid level pitching prospects. If he was he'd be traded by now. If he had 2 or more years. He would get you 3 top prospects in the teams top 10. Maybe even in a teams top 7.

It's a given fact he's not worth much.

5.) 03 Jan 2018 14:09:12
You need to look at a few past trades, Such as the mid season trade of Chapman to the Cubs, that was half season rental. CC Sabathia brought in a haul for a half a season in 2008. Zack Greinke to the Angels in 2012 brought back a big haul for half a seasons. Matt Holliday before the 2009 season to the A's, a one year rental, brought the Rockies a huge haul, Cliff Lee to the Mariners and then the Rangers in 2010 brought in huge hauls for a one year rental. These prove you don't know much about value.

6.) 03 Jan 2018 14:52:52
Keep dreaming buddy.

7.) 03 Jan 2018 16:20:27
This is comical, coming from an obvious Cubs fan (check his previous trade ideas out) .

How is he not worth much? Far worse players have been traded as rentals for significantly more. Heck, look no further than the Cubs a few years back (doubt you were even a fan then) when they'd trade rentals.

Machado is going to come at a package something like Russell/ Happ/ De La Cruz/ Clifton.

8.) 03 Jan 2018 16:25:28
While we're at it, let's just have them acquire Clayton Kershaw for a couple minor-league relievers.

He's a rental, so he's not worth much, right?

Add Bryce Harper to the list of guys with no value.

9.) 03 Jan 2018 16:32:22
Baltimore's front office and ownership is extremely weird to me. I can't see Machado getting dealt at all.

10.) 03 Jan 2018 18:35:07
O's want what you guys are saying. Has Machado been traded yet? Nope, a top 10 hitter maybe even top 5. Can't get deals done? Cause teams don't want to give up their farm system for a rental.
If he had 2 or more years remaining I would trade the farm and Happ, Russell, and Schwarber for him.

11.) 03 Jan 2018 19:19:46
I'll tell you right now if Machado is traded to the Cubs, Addison Russell will be an Oriole.

12.) 03 Jan 2018 19:59:23
Apparently you didn't read my examples of one year and half year rentals getting traded. So again Sabathia, Holliday, Beltran, Chapman, Lee (twice), Greinke, David Price when he went to the Blue Jays. I would also point out that if Machado isn't trade its because of their owner, he's clueless, he should realize his team is about to go down hill. They don't have a good farm system either.

13.) 03 Jan 2018 22:22:40
Wait, so you acknowledge he's a top 10, "maybe top 5" hitter, but don't think he's worth anything more than a couple of relief pitchers?

I can't tell if you're actually this clueless, or this is an act.

14.) 04 Jan 2018 00:17:35
It is believed that the Orioles are seeking two controllable starting pitchers for Machado, who is set to become a free agent after the 2018 season. That price seems to be too steep for Machado.

15.) 04 Jan 2018 04:02:49
you do realize if he is traded the Orioles will get at least 4 prospects for Machado.

16.) 04 Jan 2018 05:01:29
Also, Torres was tradeable cause we had Russell, Baez, and Zobrist. Plus Bryant at 3rd. I keep reading the experts say Russell will get his head on straight and hit 25+ homers and 90+ RBIs, Baez will keep getting better. Zobrist a World Series hero in 2015 with KC and with us in 2016. Might be hard to trade a Maddon guy. So let's say Russell, Happ, and 3 pitching prospects. Way to much. Russell and Happ can fill in 2 positions and combined more power then Machado. Yea Machado is the best but I'd rather have Russell and Happ over Machado.

17.) 04 Jan 2018 05:13:35
It's hilarious that a Cubs fan mentions Russell, but can't even consider that they acquired him in a trade for, get this, a RENTAL! Zobrist, he was acquired by Kansas City as a rental, for an exorbitant price, as well. They traded Torres, for a rental.

Seriously, you have literally no clue how this works, and you should honestly stop.

18.) 04 Jan 2018 11:16:59
Sonny, everyone on this site will be against you. This is the most pathetic trade I've ever read on here and the sad part is you're actually serious. Common man, Machado is literally one of the best players in the game, ONLY 25 years old, entering his PRIME years. He will get back two controllable arms plus some. Do you even watch baseball or follow the game at all? You're just embarrassing yourself at this point.

19.) 04 Jan 2018 15:06:52
Another thing you don't address is where Machado would play? Can't dh, they are the national league. They have Russell and Baez for short, and Bryant for 3rd.

20.) 04 Jan 2018 15:38:02
According to a source, the Orioles will continue to listen to interested teams, but they don't plan on moving Machado for a discounted package. That could change come July if Baltimore is out of the race, but for now, the asking price remains high.

21.) 04 Jan 2018 15:56:19
Baltimore will be out of the race. They have close to no pitching.

22.) 04 Jan 2018 16:14:56
Wait, now you are acknowledging he will bring a huge haul, and you think your puny offer is a huge haul? Cubs don't have any top 100 prospects right now, the Orioles would surely want a few of those.

23.) 04 Jan 2018 21:09:18
Sonny: "According to a source, the Orioles will continue to listen to interested teams, but they don't plan on moving Machado for a discounted package. "

Also Sonny: Here's a hilariously discounted package for Machado. I think it's fair.

24.) 06 Jan 2018 02:49:32
Lets not forget Guy's that although Machado is a rental, he probably won't be traded to a team that won't be resigning him. There will some agreement in there. So his value is obviously quite high based on age and quality.

Hearing Justin Wilson to Cubs is close. Couple Cubs prospects weren't in the lineup tonight. Ken Rose and a few others reporting close.

Yeah, along with C Alex Avila.

29 Jul 2017 23:42:50
I'm thinking Yankees, Brewers and Astros don't wanna trade their prospects. Thinking Cubs trade Happ or Schwarber (Schwarber is batting .350 in last 8 games with 3 homers)

Sonny46356

27 Jul 2017 18:45:30
To Cubs:
Sonny Gray

To A's:
Ian Happ (Ian has 13 homers rookie season for Cubs and has nice Defense and Speed)

Trevor Clifton (#3)

Oscar De La Cruz # (6) he's on fire pitcher)

Jose Albertos (#11) Teams seem to like him, stud 18 year old from Mexico

That's 4 from are top 11 before the season started. I'd do it for Darvish but he's not controllable and Gray would be our 3rd starter. Next season.

1.) 27 Jul 2017 20:25:15
Might be a little too much imo.

2.) 27 Jul 2017 23:14:31
This is a good trade. In line with what the Athletics would clearly want, and recognizes how shallow the Cubs' farm system is.

Anyone know if the Cubs have the minor leaguers for J. A. Happ? Thanks.

Sonny46356

1.) 25 Jul 2018 14:47:28
They probably do, but not as much as they use to have so they may have to give up more than other teams to get him. But do the Cubs really need another starter?

2.) 25 Jul 2018 16:03:22
The Cubs would have some pieces the Blue Jays would like, but Toronto will likely wait to see if better offers come their way. The Cubs farm system is empty.

Thought the White Sox were rebuilding? Getting Yelich get you more by trading him in a few years then who you did trade. I think they should trade Abreu before trading for stars.

Very old rumor from early December. Rangers want more
money coming with Grienke then Dbacks want to send.
