Came up with a numb trade the other day:

Pirates trade Ivan Nova.
Royals trade Lorenzo Cain.

exposfan

1.) 16 Mar 2017 20:36:04
Royals get screwed.

2.) 17 Mar 2017 00:48:06
When you post something like that, you know what you're going to get.

You must love verbal abuse. You were probably the kid that made a "kick me" sign, then stuck it on your own back.

3.) 17 Mar 2017 01:33:51
But do you get it?

4.) 17 Mar 2017 04:47:15
Don't worry, Red Sox Guy, I never pegged you to be astute enough to recognize when someone made a joke.

Seriously, read it again. Slowly. Maybe you'll see the joke. Then again, probably not.

5.) 17 Mar 2017 04:55:19
Lol, it took me a minute, but I got it. Bravo.

6.) 20 Mar 2017 15:33:24
Oh! I get it!

7.) 20 Mar 2017 17:00:35
For those that don't get it (looking at you, Red Sox Guy), here's a hint:

There are no misspelled words in the original post.

8.) 21 Mar 2017 01:21:28
What are you, 12?

We got it the first time. It was stupid then. stupid now.

9.) 21 Mar 2017 03:31:53
"GET OFF MY LAWN! " -Red Sox Guy, 2017.

10.) 21 Mar 2017 03:34:24
Also, based on your initial response, I don't think you're fooling anyone into thinking you got the joke.

You thought it was a serious idea. Admit it.

11.) 21 Mar 2017 13:45:05
DANG Red Sox Guy. Don't know why u are so mad.

12.) 21 Mar 2017 18:10:59
Lay off lol.

13.) 21 Mar 2017 19:53:41
This is a real petty argument now. Its gone to far for the both of you.

14.) 21 Mar 2017 20:15:12
Red Sox Guy is a perpetual bully on this site. Its nice too see someone give him his due. Expos made a funny joke and Red Sox got all pissy.

15.) 21 Mar 2017 20:16:51
My apologies, everyone.

16.) 23 Mar 2017 02:40:56
Haven't been on site for a bit. This thread made me laugh. Just a little.

Looking forward to upcoming new season, anyone wanna throw out some predictions?

17.) 26 Mar 2017 15:00:15
I don't get it?

18.) 27 Mar 2017 03:42:12
It's a "numb" trade. Nova-Cain trade.

19.) 28 Mar 2017 01:53:44
Nah, it's just juvenile. exposfan, if you were just having fun, no problem. I get that. But it's a lame joke.

If I hadn't gotten the joke, I would have said something like "the Pirates don't need another OF with Polanco, Marte, Cutch and Meadows in Pittsburgh. "

Instead, I just stated my perception that you probably tried to make others laugh in school - last week, of course - and instead, found out that you weren't a joker, just a joke.

But you believe whatever you want.

20.) 28 Mar 2017 17:53:32
I know this trade isn't serious, but I'm curious why jetjet thinks the royals get screwed? I think it's the opposite. Three affordable years of nova seems more valuable than one year of Cain, and the pirates have no need for Cain. Nova would find a spot in KC, and has a good contract. The pirates would not be able to keep Cain after this year.

21.) 29 Mar 2017 16:16:49
so because you don't find a joke funny you insult people? You need to find something better to do with your time.

22.) 29 Mar 2017 23:04:15
"exposfan, if you were just having fun, no problem. I get that. "

No, I don't think you do. Because I was just having fun, and you lambasted me.

Giants/ Mets trade:

Giants get Juan Lagares
Mets get Chase Johnson, Ryder Jones

Giants were rumored to go after Gutierrez before the Dodgers signed him. It seems they are looking for outfield help after all.

exposfan

1.) 11 Feb 2017 21:05:25
Your undervaluing Lagares he's a Gold Glover.

2.) 11 Feb 2017 21:55:49
exposfan, one-sided deal.

3.) 12 Feb 2017 01:25:44
Maybe it's one sided, maybe it's not. Lagares' value is tough to gauge.

On one hand, he's pretty good. But he's a defense-first player. Teams could get Jake Marisnick or Peter Bourjos for significantly cheaper and get a similar player. Is his defense so good that you ignore the bat? (i. e. Kiermaier) I don't think so.

On the other hand, the Mets have very little leverage. They don't have regular ABs to give him, and he's getting a good chunk of cash, so you can't just sit him. But, again, there are plenty of other options out there similar to Lagares, and maybe for cheaper.

Moving Lagares would give them some money back they could offer in extensions or to more pressing needs.

What would you all say Lagares is worth?

4.) 12 Feb 2017 13:59:09
Yeah but the giants are giving up basically nothing. A catcher who hit under .200 and a pitcher that's already 25 with slim to none upside.

5.) 12 Feb 2017 15:53:14
To be honest, not sure. He has little value to many teams, but might start on others.

IMO, he is a good 4th OF that could be a part-time starter and late innings defensive replacement. He's 27, so it's about time he either puts it together or very soon, he'll be a bounce-around guy, going from team to team each year.

6.) 12 Feb 2017 21:56:44
jetjet, Ryder Jones is a 3B with some pop. Chase Johnson is likely a relief guy, but if you can't tell, I don't think a guy who has done nothing for 2 seasons is worth anything of substance. Also, the Giants system has a lot more than pundits will acknowledge. Sure, they don't have a lot of elite talent, but they also haven't had the poor seasons to draft top picks. Also, they might have more mid-level prospect depth than anyone in baseball. That doesn't bode well in rankings, but the Giants have plenty, and teams know that.

Red Sox Guy, Lagares would likely start out as a bench guy for the Giants. His offense is very, very poor. No one is giving up a premium for a 4th outfielder.

New to this site. Thought I'd give it a try.

Indians get Billy Hamilton
Reds get Brady Aiken, Francisco Mejia, Greg Allen

Indians get another speedster and a permanent CF. Reds get top prospects to build around.

exposfan

1.) 20 Jan 2017 19:24:09
WAY TOO MUCH for Hamilton.

2.) 20 Jan 2017 19:56:08
Don't think the Indians do it. With naquin playing his first full season in the majors this year and Zimmer close to making his way to the majors, don't think they would give up that much for an outfielder.

3.) 20 Jan 2017 21:30:31
Good insight Jolkti

Keep in mind that Naquin was bad in CF. Really bad. Hamilton was really good.

With Brantley's injury history and Chisenhall being inconsistent, there would be plenty of chances for Naquin to play in LF and RF.

4.) 21 Jan 2017 05:04:50
Solid first post! I think the tribe gives up a bit too much, but welcome to the club of a-holes who make baseball personal and argue about whip and 20 year old prospects all while avoiding our day jobs.

5.) 21 Jan 2017 15:16:57
Not a bad idea at all. Hamilton would fit into Cleveland's style of play from last year, while helping the pitching with his defense. It may be too much, but none of us are the Cleveland GM, right?

6.) 22 Jan 2017 09:01:13
I think its a fair price for Hamilton but do u think the Indians would do it? No i really don't think there's a chance. Mejia is not going anywhere.

Blue Jays way too high. Losing Encarnacion will hurt. Morales is good but it's just not the same. Encarnacion was a big part of their identity as a team. Estrada and Happ both had career years that chances are they won't be able to duplicate. Tulo can't stay on the field. And Donaldson has missed the majority of Spring Training and will likely start off a little rusty since he's weeks behind everyone. I think the Blue Jays window has closed. I think they will be around .500 this year.

I think the Tigers will be a little better than that. I think they'll be more like 85-77. Verlander has returned to form. Fulmer should continue to improve. Zimmerman will be back healthy. And with that lineup that includes Miggy, V-Mart, J. D. , Upton, Kinsler, and Castellanos who finally came into his own last year. I think they could be dangerous.

Lastly, I think you have the Rockies way too low. I think you should have them and the D'Backs record flip flopped. The Rockies offense is legit with Blackmon, LeMahieu, CarGo, Arenado, Desomond (When he returns), and Dahl. And they finally have some pitching to go with it. Gray is the real deal. Bettis came into his own (hopefully he wins his battle with cancer), Chatwood is becoming more consistent, and they added Holland who is a proven closer hungry to prove he's still got it. They could be a threat for a 2nd wild card depending on how healthy the Cardinals and Mets rotations stay this year.

Aside from that I think it's pretty good.

2.) 23 Mar 2017 20:53:15
Interesting thoughts, bwright.

I think Toronto will be fine. I'm actually not as bullish on the AL East as it seems. I think I was WAY too high on the Yankees (who really don't have a great team) . I think I'll be under on the Orioles. Thus, I think the Blue Jays will be just fine playing in an overrated division.

As far as the Tigers, I'm not sure I agree. That bullpen is putrid. Their offense is reliant on aging players with limited skill sets. They have one of the worst defenses in the game, and having Collins in CF makes them worse.

As far as Colorado, I disagree completely. I don't think their pitching is really all that strong, nor is their bullpen. I'm not sure that adding Holland makes their bullpen (ranked 21st last year) makes them that much better. Desmond and Dahl's injuries will hurt, as they have zero depth anywhere around the field. I bet they start selling pieces by June/ July. That team is so poorly ran.

3.) 24 Mar 2017 03:08:07
I agree with most of your selections.

AL East- I agree with order

AL Central-Same, although KC might be closer to 500. Pitching will struggle but still decent team.

AL West-

I'll pick Seattle first. I Like what they accomplished in the off season
Houston
Texas
Angels
O's little better record

NL East- no Brainer but Atlanta ahead of Phillies

NL central-solid

NL West- I agree with order. I think Arizona will surprise a bit but won't be close to LA/ SF

Jays over Houston wildcard

Boston over Seattle
Jays over Cleveland

Boston over Jays

SF over Cards wildcard

Cubs over SF
Nats over LA

Cubs over Nats

Bosox over Cubs in 7.

4.) 24 Mar 2017 14:31:25
You could be right about the Royals. It's going to be tough for that offense to get much worse, but I don't think it's going to be much better.

Combine their same offense with a much, much worse pitching staff, and I think they finish around 70-75 games.

5.) 24 Mar 2017 14:32:13
And the Phillies: they will be much better than people realize. I actually think they could finish third in that division. Great, underrated pitching.

6.) 26 Mar 2017 15:02:37
I'll take that #3 pick all day!

SS- Seager
3B- Turner
1B- Gonzalez

Rotation:
Kershaw

Kazmir, Wood, Fields, Romo, Dayton, Baez, Jensen

exposfan

1.) 01 Feb 2017 14:26:59
Not bad but I don't see any more major moves being made by them this offseason. I don't think Braun is going to be trade to LAD this offseason neither with Grey but it isn't too bad though.

"this season it already looks like he is finally fully healthy and locked in. "

He's literally pitched less than 20 innings 'this season'. You cannot possibly project a huge season based on 20 innings and a mediocre finish last season. I don't mind Stroman and think he's a great pitcher, but nothing has shown us this is going to be a "huge" season.

"Huge season for him this year. "

You said this after he pitched one good start. I said he'll be fine. But to project a "huge" season for anyone because of one outing is a massive overreaction.
