Jayson Werth would not remember ever being this productive in a game, that is that included Little League. Werth homered in his 1st 3 at bats and tied a Phillies record with 8 RBIs in a 10-3 triumph over the Blue Jays Friday. "Anything can happen on any given day, I guess", Werth said.

Cole Hamels in the end finished what he started. The Philadelphia left hander pitched his 1st career shutout, Ryan Howard homered and the Phillies beat the Braves 5-0 Thursday. "I am always wanting to go out there and finish it", mentioned Hamels, who lowered his ERA from 3.36 to 2.89.

Tom Glavine plans to keep his eyes off the scoreboard next time he takes the mound. Glavine pitched 5 2-3 effective innings to earn his 1st triumph for Atlanta in 6 years and the Braves held on for an 8-6 win over the Phillies Wednesday.

Jayson Werth almost ruined a strong hitting display with an untimely miscue in the field. Brad Lidge bailed him out. Werth drove in 4 runs, Kyle Kendrick pitched 6 effective innings and the Phillies beat the Braves 5-4 Tuesday. Kendrick (3-2) shook off a shaky 1st inning and allowed 3 runs and 6 hits.

It is not official Phillies policy. It is a preference. GM Pat Gillick prefers not to talk about contract extensions until after the season, which was the case last year with centerfielder Aaron Rowand.
