The Twins and Rays are very close to making a deal in which the Twins would receive OF Delmon Young, IF Brendan Harris and OF David Pridie, and the Rays would get SP Matt Garza, RHP Juan Rincon and SS Jason Bartlett.

If Yanks offer Phil Hughes and Melkey Cabrara its a done deal. If not next in line would be the Red Sox with Clay Buckholz-Coco Crisp- AAA speedster Brendon Moss and A ball catcher Scott Kugler.

Flordia Marliins will not trade Miguel Cabrera to anyone.

The Major League Baseball Winter Meetings have started off with an explosion.
The Minnesota Twins have agreed in principle to a deal that would send Lefthanded pitcher Johan Santana to the Boston Red Sox for Lefthanded pitcher John Lester, Righthanded pitcher Clay Bucholtz, centerfielder Coco Crisp and a player to be named later, thought to be a mid-level prospect.
A 5:00pm EST press conference is scheduled with Red Sox GM Theo Epstein.

If Pettitte does not agree to come back by the New Year, look for the Yankees to deal Phil Hughes, Melky Cabrera, and another pitcher (think Karstens, Wright, or even Beam) for Santana (as long as they get a negotiating window). However, all of this is contingent on Torii Hunter still being available for the centerfield vacany.

The Angels will need a lefty power bat to stick between Vlad and Miguel. Some early predictions: Giambi, Duncan, Hamilton, Griffey, Ibanez, Gonzo.
Giambi would come cheap. Duncan is a long shot. Hamilton is expendable. Griffey may not want the west coast. Ibanez is in a crowded outfield but could play some first base, if necessary. Gonzo is a free agent that makes sense.

Marlins Trade Miguel Cabrera to Dodgers.
The Florida Marlins today traded 3rd Baseman Miguel Cabrera to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Matt Kemp, Andy LaRoche, and minor league pitching prospect Clayton Kershaw. The Dodgers reported that they have started negotiations on a contract extension for their new 3rd Baseman Cabrera.

Cubs are in the running for a lot of things, but all they will get is kaz matsui. mark derosa will be playing right field next year for the cubs, not hunter, not cabrera, not crawford,and not fukodome. cubs fans need to relax a little bit. you cant get everyone, and to the previous arod rumors of the cubs offering ownership, they dont have a a new owner yet, WAKE UP, next year still isnt the year

A-Rod contacting the Yankees was scripted by Boras. Boras blew it so to save face he TOLD A-ROD to contact the Yankees. This way A-Rod can get his 300M and makes believe he loves the Yankees (he wanted out but would have has to take an embarrasing 200M). Boras saves himself the embarrasment of accepting 200M due to his mis-calculation.

St Louis Cardinals trade Anthony Reyes, Brad Thompson, and 2 prospects to LA Dodgers for Andy Laroche and Furcal.

Stl Cardinals trade Reyes, Duncan, Anderson, Thompson, Hawksworth, and 3 other prospects to FLA for Miggy Cabrera.
Cabrera then signs a 7 year deal for 100mil, to follow in AP footsteps.

Tom Glavine is a type A, Paul LoDuca is a type B, as is Luis Castillo.

Are you ready for this baseball fans. a-rod will not play for the big name teams that we have all heard. a-rod will sign with the the sf giants. the giants will also deal for either bedard or willis.

bonds will sign with the padres.
rowand will go to the rangers.
andruw jones will go to the white sox.
glavine to the braves.
m.rivera will sign with either the yankees or dodgers...more to come on this.

as far as trades....this is what i have heard through the grapevine.....

the phillies are looking to send pat burrell and 2 prospects to tampa bay rays for carl crawford.

kc and boston are talking about a possible deal involving david dejesus.

the mets are talking with several teams about pitching. including baltimores bedard and the marlins willis. but the deal not to many people have heard about is the one involving the angels e. santana and the mets pelfrey and gomez. this one could happen soon.
also the mets are looking at miquel cabrera. the deal is cabrera and willis for milledge, gomez, pelfrey and 2 more prospects. the mets would then decide whether to put cabrera in the outfield or 1st. either way if this deal goes down, look for the mets to move calos delgado. rumors has it that oakland could be a possible place for delgado to land.

Dbacks close to signing clark

Arizona Diamondbacks reportedly are close to signing Tony Clark to a two-year 3.6 million dollar deal. Clark will also be the starting first baseman which makes Arizona to trade Conor Jackson.

Think Kouzmanoff, Beltre, or Mora for Yanks' 3rd base ... perhaps Inge.

Crowded lefty outfield in NY makes Matsui expendable but his no-trade would only be waived for Dodgers or Mariners and there is no need for outfielders either place. So, Hideki might be full-time DH, only spelling Damon every sixth game, and Giambi might find his way to the Angels for 2nd tier prospects and cash.

If Melky is dealt for pitching / 3rd base, look for the Yanks to overpay Torii Hunter or make a huge mistake with Andruw. Either way, a huge righty bat has to make it to NY this winter.
