Carlos Zambrano buried the hatchet with Jim Edmonds Wednesday and apologized Thursday for his angry display against the former St. Louis outfielder during a heated Cubs-Cardinals game in July 2004.

Andy Sonnanstine's strong pitching was no surprise. After carrying a shutout into the 8th inning, the right hander has won his last 5 decisions for the Tampa Bay Rays. It was Sonnanstine's 2nd career 2 hit game that the Cardinals did not see coming.

The Cardinals have seen only about enough of Brewers slugger Ryan Braun over the past 2 days. Catcher Yadier Molina and manager Tony La Russa managed to see several innings less of him than everyone else Monday night.

The Rocktober magic returned to Coors Field at least for a night. Chris Iannetta tripled home 2 runs off Jason Isringhausen to cap a 4 run 8th inning rally and carry the slumping Rockies past the stunned Cardinals 4-3 Wednesday.

Cardinals starter Mark Mulder has a mild rotator cuff strain of his left shoulder, causing St. Louis to stop his injury rehabilitation assignment. Mulder, coming back from 2 shoulder operations, was evaluated Wednesday in St. Louis by team physician Dr. George Paletta.
