Before everyone bashes me, I fully understand that Mike Trout is not going to get traded. However, in a Sports Illustrated article, 10 teams were listed as possible destinations for him that have the farm system to pull off a deal if he were to be shopped. The most likely destination for him in that article was the Yankees due to him being from New Jersey and Billy Eppler being the former Assistant GM of the Yankees and the current GM of the Angels. So here's the trade.

Angels get Luis Severino, Aaron Judge, Jorge Mateo, Gary Sanchez, Rob Refsnyder, James Kaprielian, Domingo Acevedo, and Ian Clarkin

Yankees get Mike Trout


Once again I want everyone to know that I am completely aware that Mike Trout will not be traded. But is this package fair value?

This is the first realistic trade I could foresee for Trout. And I agree with you, I don't think the LAA will trade Trout. That being said, if they wanted to I think they would accept this deal.

I don't think the Yankees farm system is all that great. In my opinion, it's not good enough to land Trout.

I actually think Harper will be s Yankee before Trout.

They can do this trade as it's more realistic then the others out there

But imagine, they do this and in 2018 they'd sign Harper. they yankees can manage it as mist if the current big contracts Will be off the books by 2018 (Harper and Trout could combine to make $75 million a year. a figure the yankees could do)

The problem with this I would be that the Yankees essentially just became the Angels. No farm system if all of them are traded and an old team around Trout. If I'm the Yankees, I would say no. (That said, I still think Trout could net a little more but Severino headlining this package makes it more attractive than just the hitters) .

Even if they traded Trout no team could pull off the move. No matter what the Angels win the trade and get all of your best prospects. It would be incredibly stupid because even though you're acquiring Trout you won't have high end players developing to support him. Whoever "trades" for him becomes LA Angels 2.0.
