Some offseason trades I think could happen:

Marlins get: Jose Quintana
White Sox get: Marcell Ozuna, Adam Conley

Dodgers get: Chris Archer
Rays get: Jose De Leon, Yasiel Puig, 1 other low-level prospect

Braves get: Brian Dozier
Twins get: Ozzie Albies, Kolby Allard

Cubs get: Wade Davis
Royals get: Kyle Schwarber

Yankees get: Adam Ottavino
Rockies get: James Kaprelian

You might look and wonder, if the Cubs and Yankees both trade for a closer/ reliever, where does Chapman go? I'm predicting the Nationals pay top dollar for him.

A brief explanation on these:

#1- Marlins need pitching help, especially after the tragic loss of Fernandez. There is plenty of OF help to be acquired via free agency. There isn't an ace. White Sox desperately need OF help.

#2- Might be a tad low on Archer, but it all depends on how Tampa Bay views Puig. Could restructure it, but I think De Leon + a major leaguer is a great return for Tampa Bay.

#3- Atlanta will make a splash this winter. I firmly believe it. Dozier would be a huge pickup, and the Braves have the prospect depth to make a move like this. The Twins might want even more, and I'd be willing to accept that argument.

#4- Schwarber coming off an injury year has low value. Davis coming off an injury and only controlled for 12 months has lower value than many people would admit. If Morales walks, Schwarber fits right into KC's DH slot, and he fits into the clubhouse mojo (Ned Yost is just a less-talented Joe Maddon) .

#5- Total crap-shoot trade guess. Probably not going to happen, but Ottavino is a New Yorker, plays for a team that doesn't need him, and the Yankees need bullpen support. I thought I'd get a little interesting in my trade projections with this one.

None of these trades are all that good.

I. actually like the first two trades.

Dodgers would need to add another top 10 outfield prospect imo.

First trade addresses needs of both teams.

Minnow, that's what I've been torn on. I wouldn't be surprised if the Dodgers take on a bad contract from Tampa (although, I can't think if they have any) .

Why would the Twins trade their second baseman after a career year for seemingly little in return?

Do you feel the Rays can afford Puig's salary and temperment?
Do you feel Puig is a little unstable for a shaky Tampa franchise?

Seeminly little in return? Albies is a tremendous young infield prospect who most scouts feel will be very, very good. Allard is equally touted, albeit with a bad injury under his belt already. This would be a fantastic return for Dozier.

As far as Puig is concerned, I think he'll be fine. The Dodgers could take on some of his contract to help the return, and I don't think Tampa is in that bad of shape. They need young, controllable MLB talent, which both Puig and De Leon offer.

Jerk I like these trades they make sense, except the Archer trade. Not sure if you heard but a couple weeks ago Matt Silverman said the rays are hell bent on being a contender this year. I would be shocked if they traded him this year.

I didn't see that. I'll check that out, thanks for the recommendation.

I do think the Rays would be wise to move Archer. This pitching market is ridiculously weak and they can get a premium for someone who could be the best pitcher available (providing the White Sox hold both Sale and Quintana) .

Interesting trade proposals. however, they offer possible insight into why so many deals are proposed. and few actually come to fruition. The first two deals define this:

Trade # 1: Adam Conley became the staff ace of the Marlins upon the tragic death of Jose Fernandez. Conley was pretty much shut down with a tendon problem in his finger. making one late start (just a few innings) before being shut down completely. Marcel Ozuna had a typical (for him) year. moments of brilliance. moments of abject disinterest. One item that was revealed with Ozuna's play: his defense clearly took a step back, making him a corner OF'er, going forward. Jose Quintana is a special pitcher. with a great contract, $ 9 MM AAV for four years, two controlled by the club. The CWSox would pass, keeping Quintana.

Trade #2: Archer for Puig, De Leon and a lottery ticket (Scavuzzo? ) . Archer's contract is even more team friendly than Quintana's. That alone would make the Rays less inclined to move him. With the addition of Puig to the Rays roster, they get an uber talented OF'er who comes possible baggage (mitigated now that he has returned from the minors and has kept his nose clean and his attitude correct) . Puig has two years at nearly double Archer's salary, then he's gone. Not the kind of deal the Rays are famous for. Simply stated, De Leon is a high floor RH starter with some history of success and injury. When he's healthy, he can be as good as anyone, especially considering his changeup can be lethal. The injury concern, his shoulder, is a BIG red flag. In the few starts he had at the ML level, he was less than inspiring. Sometimes that happens. More opportunities would be needed to determine if he can make that HUGE leap from MiLB to MLB. The something else (lottery ticket) in this deal would have to be significant. So, too much money for too unsure would be how this deal could be couched. If the Rays were intent on moving Archer, then Puig would NOT be the main piece coming back from the Dodgers. Now, if the main pieces coming back from the Dodgers were De Leon and Urias. then there'd be some serious consideration. It's doubtful the Dodgers would move Urias for anyone not named Sale at this point.

Thoughts?
