I'm a Phillies fan and, while I don't disagree with you Nate, I am hopeful Amaro will realize he needs to make deals like this in order to move forward. These are 2 decent prospects who will help our depth. But the main thing we get from this deal is moving Pap's awful contract.

It's not like Papelbon has been awful. In fact, I'd call him a top 5 closer in baseball.

Trading him and eating a portion of his contract isn't necessary unless you're getting a better return. we're not dealing with Ryan Howard here.

As a closer your right he's near the top as a person he's a major liability

That is too much for Papelbon. Its why talks have gone no where with teams. Amaro simply wants to much.
