An injured player who has a longer, more expensive contract than Mauer. A career backup infielder and a nothing special catcher. And pitcher who is out for a year with tommy john surgery.

And you want Minnesota to give up 2 of the best prospects in all of baseball. No thanks.

No,while Wright is good, he is on the wrong side of 30 for what the Twins are doing, and while they would love to have Wheeler, they already have problems with finding spots in the rotation for their own pitchers, plus Buxton and Sano cover areas of need for the Twins
