NYM gets: LHP Matthew Boyd
DET gets: IF Andres Gimenez, LF Dominic Smith, 3B/OF JD Davis

DetroitTigersFan2001

1.) 18 Nov 2019 08:07:31
Massive overpay for the Mets.

Tigers trade: LHP Matthew Boyd
Cardinals trade: OF Tyler O'Neill, 1B/OF Jose Martinez, 3B Nolan Gorman

DetroitTigersFan2001

1.) 09 Oct 2019 03:27:35
The Cardinals system isn't very deep, and Gorman is the best they've got (I'd accept an argument for Dylan Carlson) .

I just can't see them giving up either of them at this point.

2.) 09 Oct 2019 13:53:41
For what it's worth, I don't think it's a crazy ask for Boyd. And I think there'll be a team that overpays for him this winter, but I don't see the Cardinals being that team.

3.) 09 Oct 2019 23:51:47
I can’t see why Boyd gets so much attention. Is it that he has so many years of club control or his high SO rate? Honestly he didn’t do anything that tells me you need to give up any top prospects for him. I could see a major league piece and a mid level prospect and that’s about it.

4.) 10 Oct 2019 13:44:39
It's the years of control, plus his peripherals. His xFIP was quite a bit better than his ERA. He had a .307 BABIP against him, and most think that's going to come down quite a bit.

He's an extremely good pitcher and he improved in almost every area they wanted him to improve last year (huge spikes in K-rates, swing and miss rate, ground ball rate) . I'd look to the Tigers getting a pretty legit haul for him.

The Tigers need to make these moves at the deadline

Tigers get: Adrian Beltre
Rangers get: Torii Hunter, Javier Betancourt, Austin Schotts, Melvin Mercedes & Buck Farmer

Tigers get: Jimmy Rollins, Antonio Bastardo & Jonathan Papelbon & take up Papelbon's full contract
Phillies get: Willy Adames, Endrys Briceno & Domingo Leyba

Tigers get: David Price
Rays get: Nick Castellanos, Robbie Ray, Tyler Collins & Daniel Fields

Tigers get: Giancarlo Stanton
Marlins get: Jonathon Crawford, Devon Travis, Drew VerHagen, Steven Moya, Eugenio Suarez & Kevin Ziomek

DetroitTigersFan2001

1.) Tigers don't have the farm system to pull these off. So they can't. As for Stanton, Marlins are in it. Why would they trade him?

2.) All one sided for the tigers

3.) At least I got one of them right! WE GOT PRICE!

4.) Not the package though. And I like their creativity. I never thought they would get him with the farm system they had. But a 3 team trade and giving up Jackson was creative.

5.) ^Because Friedman decided to sell low for some reason. Who knew Eduardo Rodriguez and Colin Moran would be the biggest prospects dealt at the deadline? And who would expect those too prospects would be dealt for a end-rotation starter and a rental reliever?

6.) ^This was in response to the second comment up.

Re-sign Scherzer for 7 years & $168M

Re-sign Martinez for 5 years & $75M

Release Phil Coke

DetroitTigersFan2001

1.) I love it! You even cut Phil Coke!

2.) Tigers don't have the Quality of prospects to get all these guys. They don't have a good system. So they have no shot at Stanton or Price.

3.) Not enough for price

4.) Quality, not quantity.

5.) Toss Coke in to the Rays to make it an even trade.

DetroitTigersFan2001

1.) Hi, the Tigers don't have the prospects to make all these trades. And truly what they need is bullpen.

2.) Really dumb and made no sense. Sorry but your tigers aren't getting any of them

3.) Only one I coul see DET getting is street. The rest are awful and half of them involve teams in a playoff race!

4.) Why do you think the Tigers have an infinite source of money? It would be an additional 87 mil a year to their current payroll which is what? Price has been better longer than Scherzer. Price is worth more. I do have a problem with the Porcello extension you suggested. He has only just started to be this good. Not yet worth 18 million a year.

5.) Lucroy is not goingto the damn tigers. he isn"t leaving milwaukee!

6.) Damn! Forgot to edit Lucroy out.

7.) The Tigers don't even think they can afford Scherzer next season. and they are going to add Price, Stanton, Gattis, and Kemp?

Besides, the Tigers don't even have the depth of prospects to get even Price.

Tigers get: Allen Craig, Shane Victorino & Brock Holt (from Red Sox); Stephen Strasburg, Craig Stammen, Drew Storen, Ian Desmond & Wilson Ramos (from Nationals)

Red Sox get: JD Martinez & Derek Hill (as a PTNBL) (from Tigers); Jordan Zimmermann (from Nationals)

Nationals get: Ian Kinsler, Steven Moya & Nick Castellanos (from Tigers); Mookie Betts, Blake Swihart & Joe Kelly (from Red Sox)

Tigers sign James Shields to a 4-year, $72M deal & also sign Cuban 2B Yoan Moncada (if he is cleared by the OFAC) to a 5-year, $40M deal.

Tigers lineup:
Iglesias SS
Victorino CF
Cabrera 1B
Martinez DH
Cespedes LF
Desmond 3B
Craig RF
Ramos C
Moncada 2B

Bench: Avila, Davis, Holt, Romine

Tigers rotation:
Price
Strasburg
Shields
Verlander
Sanchez

Bullpen: Greene/Simon as long relievers, Gorzelanny/Stammen as middle relievers, Storen in the 7th, Soria in the 8th

Closer: Nathan

DetroitTigersFan2001

1.) 24 Jan 2015 03:01:29
Between Strasburg's extension and arbitration estimation plus Shields, Verlander, Miggy, VMart, Sanchez, and Kinsler. over the next 4 seasons, the Tigers would have about $567M committed to 7 guys. That's $20.25M per player AAV.

That leaves $58.23M for the remaining 18 players on the roster to stay under the luxury tax. which gives you $3.23M per.

Good luck contending with only 7 players, all of whom will be in their mid to upper thirties by the time their contracts are done.

2.) 1. the trade is way to complicated and involves to many players. None of the teams would go for a complete makeover as you have suggested.
2. Shields won't happen. he is probably going to get anywhere between 5 years 80-100 million.
3. Your a complete fool for thinking the Tigers will outbid the Yankees, Red Sox, or Dodgers for Moncada.
3a. Moncada can only sign a minor league deal. Since he is under 23, and hasn't played over 6 years in the Cuban league. As per the International signing rules. Its the bonus that is going to be huge probably 50 million plus.

3.) And also have the sox trade away all their outfeild and the one guy that let's them trade three so we aren't trading betts or craig in my opinion and I mean I don't mind getting Zimmerman but is to costly and plus we aren't trying to stack our opponents either we want to still hold a slight edge over people not give the edge to others

4.) And also you are basically gutting the Nationals entire team and I don't think that will happen now because they are now hevay favorits with the second base hole filled and another ace to a 4 1/2-5 ace rotation with a sixth spot starter who maybe the ace of the future so moving him to the bullpen makes them even more deep and they have prospects as well so I say the nats may trade desmond and one of their many aces but desmond will require a highly touted 2nd baseman in return alowing Escobar to move to short or a highly touted short stop alowing Escobar to stay at 2nd and their pitcher should bring good quaiity in return as well so I see them maybe doing that instead of trading their whole team away especially when they are in their win now season

5.) This isn't a bad dream team but come back to reality please

I mean people think my deals are bad and this seems bad even to me so be prepared to face the critics

6.) ^yea he made your proposals look good.

7.) 25 Jan 2015 05:17:27
^True dat.

8.) The only real hole on the Tigers is the 5th rotation spot and maybe third base if castianos doesn't work out but this deal is pointless I say maybe they go out and trade for a gee or someone and some one like a Dominguez now that the Astros have valvena so I think that's all they will do but nothing else

9.) And why get desmond to play third I think it is more practical to put iglasis at third and desmond at short not the other way around

First off, you misspelled so many names on here it's not even funny.

Second of all, you expect me to believe our only offseason moves are re-sign Saltalamacchia and Rodriguez, and signing Bud Norris. I doubt that. We'll probably make one or two trades, and another bullpen signing.

Thirdly, Zimmermann definitely won't be the #1 starter next year. He'll probably be #3.

And finally, where are Matt Boyd and Anibal Sanchez? You didn't mention where they would be.

Overall, this isn't that good.

Yeah. They need to face facts and do a total rebuild. Definitely trade Calhoun, and at least listen on Trout.

My idea for trading Calhoun:

Giants get: Kole Calhoun and Huston Street
Angels get: Christian Arroyo, Phil Bickford, Mac Williamson and Lucius Fox

My idea for trading Trout:

Mets get: Mike Trout
Angels get: Jacob deGrom, Amed Rosario, Michael Conforto, Curtis Granderson, Juan Lagares, Kevin Plawecki and Marcos Molina.

This is definitely not a good trade. I think I may have a better proposal:

Mets get: Mike Trout
Angels get: Jacob deGrom, Amed Rosario, Michael Conforto, Dominic Smith, Juan Lagares, Travis d'Arnaud and Marcos Molina.
