The pirates need another outfielder because polanco has been struggling all season, they need one more starter (for depth or to replace morton or locke but its not a necessity like it was before) and a reliever to have another strong arm in the bullpen. I don't believe we need 3 blockbuster deals to get what we need but here is what I think
Pit Acquires: Aroldis Chapman, Jay Bruce or Marlon Byrd (previous success in pittsburgh) and cash
Cin Acquires: Harold Ramirez, Cole Tucker, and Luis Heredia, Andrew Lambo, Barret Barnes, and (2016 int'l signing bonus money)
I know the reds and pirates are rivals but there have already been 2 trades betweens pirates and division rivals this year so its not out of the question. The reds get some new outfield prospects and a ready one, a shortstop, a pitcher and some money to sign international players. The pirates get a great arm in the bullpen and an outfielder to replace polanco when we send him down or Lombardozzi down.
This last trade helps two teams in contention Blue jays have the 18th worst bullpen in the majors, and the pirates need a righty 1st baseman

Why would the Pirates take chapman and just add prospects for a guy who's not needed

We need another outfielder with polanco struggling as he is, Jhay on the DL and Marte also injured. Chapman would replace Bastardo (who is terrible)

(Pirates get upgrade at starter and reliever while giving the marlins some young talent)
Pirates Acquire: Adam Lind
MIL Acquire: Pedro Alvarez
Milwaukee gets a younger player who performs well at miller park and pirates get a solid bat at 1st
Pirates Acquire: Josh Reddick, Scott Kazmir
OAK Acquire: Corey Hart, Charlie Morton, Harold Ramirez, Clay Holmes, and Gregory Polanco (he has yet to prove he can be a consistent player)

The first trade is not good. Koehler is not really an upgrade. The 2nd trade won't happen. And the Pirates won't trade polanco (plus 2 good prospects and more) for an injury plagued RF and a rental SP

Pirates need another bat or two on the bench.
Allen Craig can be a cheap experiment but he struggles hitting off the bench which is where he will be. (I like the trade from a previous post)
Brandon Moss is a possibility but he struggled before as a pirate.
Adam Lind could be perfect he hits for power, average, he is 31 and on a terrible team.
David Dejesus hits for average and decent power and would be great off the bench.

Lind is one of the best available offensive players that will be moved. It's going to take a teams top ten prospect in order to land him, especially if the brewers are going to send him to division rival

If we get Aaron Harang I will ball my eyes out. I have never been impressed with him and he looks terrible

so pirates get a guy who plays 1B who can hit for a triple crown and a utility man who is getting up there in age for a decent first baseman, a 2nd baseman who has been on fire lately, a shortstop prospect who is nearly ready and is one of the best minor leaguers and a future #1/#2 guy
eventually we would have to pay goldschmidt more money than those four players combined, even when they all make the majors (estimated 20M for 4 players), Goldschmidt (estimated 25-30M). we would be paying more money and have 3 less positions filled.
